In 2029 the mutant population has shrunk significantly and the X-Men have been disbanded. Logan, whose power to self-heal is dwindling, has surrendered himself to alcohol and taking care of the ailing old Professor X, whom he keeps hidden away. However Logan's attempts to buy a boat, and hide from the world and his legacy are upended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces. A decrepit Logan is forced to ask himself if he can or even wants to put his remaining powers to good use. It would appear that in the near-future, the times in which they were able put the world to rights with razor sharp claws and telepathic powers are now over. (1)
Review
Hello, Movie Buffs!
Logan is a film. A FILM, not a superhero movie, one that I consider being a privilege to have seen and when you see the film you will understand. Ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out, a movie I am not proud of as a fan, I have yearned for a good and honest to God Wolverine movie. Well, ladies and gentlemen; I can safely say that that movie is now a reality.
Be warned you will see
a lot of gore and f-bombs in most of the scenes, but these scenes play a part of an amazing story. Now I am not going to spoil anything but I will say this, Logan is undoubtedly the most definitive “comic book” movie to date, and in my mind, it has successfully unseated Zack Snyder's Watchmen. Thankfully ever since Deadpool paved the way for R-Rated X-Men films, Fox has now finally stopped holding back from some epic action scenes.

Hugh Jackman carries the movie in a minimalist, yet the terrifying performance of what has now been dubbed the “Old Man Logan. Here we see Logan in, what I consider to be, his most vulnerable state, both physically and emotionally. He’s an old and grayish shadow of what he once was, a man who has lost everything and everyone that he has ever cared about. He’s tired of the fight and tired of living. However, by going on this mission, rather reluctantly at first, we begin to see some of the old wolverine come out. Watch closely as Logan begins to realize that maybe he has at least one fight left in him and that there is more in common between him and this little girl, Laura.
Overall, Logan is a gnarly, emotional and honest film; every scene is necessary for character development, from the humor to the action. Nothing feels forced. Everything comes off natural which is a breath of fresh air, and I believe that it treats every character with such care and embarks on an emotional and satisfying conclusion to Wolverine. It holds reverence as a farewell to one of the most iconic X-Men characters of all time.
“The world is not the same as it was, Charles. Mutants... they're gone now.”
