Mercenary Frank Martin (Jason Statham) has accepted a job that seems easy enough, as chauffeur and bodyguard to young Jack (Hunter Clary), son of crusading politician Jefferson Billings (Matthew Modine). The problem is that Billings is crusading against an international drug cartel. They retaliate by kidnapping Jack and infecting him with a deadly and highly contagious virus. Responsible for the boy, Frank must reclaim him and then find an antidote before scores of innocents are stricken. (1)

Hello, Movie Buffs!
Transporter (2002) was an entertaining film with good action scenes and an overall sense of fun but there were plot holes that could have been easily fixed. So when the 2005 sequel, The Transporter 2, was released, let’s just say I was not expecting a huge improvement from the last movie. The action was great and the characters were good but there were still some plot issues. The only difference is that the plot this time around was a bigger problem because the main idea of biological warfare is a bit overused; at least in this way. Perhaps if it was used similarly to the 1995 film Outbreak (with Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, and Donald Sutherland) then I think this film would have been a bit more interesting. Come to think of it, Transporter 2 looks more and more like a trying to be James Bond film, rather than a driving film. Although, I guess complaining about the plot here would be like seeing an animation and then complaining about the fact that the film was animated. So you don’t exactly hold much ground for complaint.
On a positive note, the action was pretty good, though there is really only one fun martial arts scene. Obviously, the stunts are not meant to look impossible, we learn that in the first film so it’s no surprise that it’s the same here. While the plot might keep you entertained and the characters are good – though it’s not their best performance – it is the action that is really the glue in this film. It’s a fun film though it could have been better. Jason Statham (Furious 7) as Frank Martine does his simple performance to good effect while his tough persona and physical presence are convincing enough. However, The rest of the cast is so-so. Alessandro Gassman (Quite Chaos) as Gianni Chellini is amusing but could have been better and while Kate Nauta (Game Plan) as Lola is stuck in lingerie – probably to attract the young teenage boys – she does have some cool fight scenes. Matthew Modine (Memphis Bell) as Jefferson Billings is wasted talent and Amber Valletta (Hitch) as Audrey Billings is alright, however, the adorable Jack Billings played by Hunter Clary (Snowmen), almost makes up for their lack. François Berléand (Transporter) returns as Inspector Tarconi and while his character is amusing, there were times when it felt like he was a more lazy-filler character with no real purpose.
Overall, if you want to see an action film like Fast and the Furious or Avengers then you will be sadly mistaken here. The Transporter 2 (2005) is an OK entertaining film that has a lot of action that almost makes up for a mediocre plot and average characters. This is worth seeing at least once and if you looking for an easy Friday night action film than The Transporter films are what you are looking for. It is an over the top and shameless action film where the action is fun and mind-numbing. I recommend for those who have not, to see it because while there are some issues I don’t think anyone would be able to watch this and not be entertained.
"I'm listening."
