Hello, Movie Buffs!
If there is one thing that xXx (2002) says above all else then it is that the hero will always be a rebel against the law and the authority. xXx is more of a dumbed down version of the James Bond movies, so it is most likely more entertaining to those who thought that the James Bond movies were too complex with an over abundant of dialogue. xXx is meant to be entertaining and a lot of fun without an overly complex or deep plot. The action sequences are pretty great and the stunts are ambitious and outrageous, which more than makeup for the more strenuous elements of the film.
It is interesting to see the difference in character Vin Diesel portrays here versus his character in the Fast and the Furious (FATF) franchise, Dominic Toretto. The two characters are noticeably different and yet they are pretty similar. Diesel’s character here, Xander Cage, is more arrogant and cocky, kind of like a player but more of an all-star. While his character in FATF is more family oriented and prides himself on being loyal to his crew/family. However, both have a love-hate relationship with the law and no matter what both continue to stay true to them.
Overall, xXx (2002) is dumbed down James Bond movie that is without a doubt entertaining and humorous. This film was purely made for entertainment, not for intellectual debates. If you want an easy action movie like James Bond without having to deal with a complex plot then this movie is for you.
"The things I'm gonna do for my country."
