Hello, Movie Buffs!
Xander Cage comes out of exile, thought to be dead, and is set on a collision course with a deadly team lead by a man named, Xiang. Xander recruits new team made up of a thrill-seeking eccentrics in order to try to recover a seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box that Xiang’s team stole. The mission seems pretty straight forward but Xander quickly finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy that points to corruption at the highest levels of governments.

Let me start off by saying that xXx: Return of Xander Cage is not the best or most amazing film of 2017 and yet it is without a doubt very entertaining. It was over the top and flashy with a fast pace that never gave the audience the chance to realize just how corny and insane it was. There is plenty of action and the humor is actually pretty funny, although some of Nina Dobrev’s (Vampire Diaries) comedic lines were a bit awkward to watch. The rest of the characters were pretty good. Donnie Yen (Rouge One) is great and Ruby Rose (John Wick 2) is pretty cool as a sniper. Tony Jaa (Ong Bak films) was pretty laughable since he could never be taken seriously, and Vin Diesel (xXx) is Vin Diesel. My favorite character was Nicks played by Kris Wu (Mr. Six) – a former member of the K-Pop (Korean Pop) boy band EXO and its Chinese sub-group EXO-M. After leaving the K-Pop industry, I am glad to see him expanding his career by taking part in some big films and I can’t wait to see him in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). The friendly chemistry with Kris’ character, Nicks, and Rory McCann’s (Game of Thrones) character, Tennyson, together they really offered great humor and bickering.

Overall, xXx: Return of Xander Cage is an insane and fun movie to see. As always don’t expect much from the plot, however, this new and old group of characters along with the action and comedy make for an entertaining film. The film works as it intended and therefore I don’t believe that it gave anything more or less than what it said it would.

"X looks out for its own."
