Hello, Movie Buffs!
If you were a fan of Pitch Perfect (2012) and enjoyed Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) then you will find Pitch Perfect 3 to be acc-awesome. I know what people are gonna say Pitch Perfect is just a small time film and a chick flick not really a worth it film but with Christmas and New Years coming you need something fun to pick up your mood and wind down the end of the year. Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) was a very entertaining and funny film to laugh at and relax to before the New Year. There is no doubt that this film is corny and filled with cheap laughs but if it brings a smile to your face and makes you feel good then it’s done its job.
Pitch Perfect 3 is the last in the franchise and I was not disappointed! Unlike the previous two films, the writers added a surprising twist for one of the Bellas and the rest of the story is pretty good. The story is no longer only about singing and while it was a bit predictable the pace was good. The humor and ‘action’ were done well, the acting was natural and reflects the chemistry that has developed throughout all the films.
The film also avoids the mistake of trying to cram in everyone we’ve met throughout the films. A lot of the main characters are gone and comedy relief characters like Gail (Elizabeth Banks) and John (John Michael Higgins) are diminished to give the Bellas more time. I am glad that with Emily (Hailee Steinfeld – The Edge of Seventeen) and Flo (Chrissie Fit - Temporary) from PP2 returned for the final films. We also get to meet some new characters like DJ Khaled, Theo (Guy Burnet), Chicago (Matt Lanter), and Calamity (Ruby Rose – Orange is the New Black) as well as bring back Emily (Hailee Steinfeld – The Edge of Seventeen) and Flo (Chrissie Fit - Temporary) from PP2. The music is great. It’s always good to hear Anna Kendrick (Table 19) sing as she has a very natural talent for singing
Overall, Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) is so different from the original movie; I can't believe it's in the same franchise. This film went out with a bang by giving audience members great music mash-ups, comedy, and tied up any loose ends. Even the finale is smaller in order to focus on the Bellas and their sisterhood. It closes this chapter of the women’s lives and pays homage to the previous two films; it was ‘pitch perfect.’
"I love you awesome nerds!"
